BLK/MRKT Gallery was initially founded in Los Angeles in 2001 as a platform for supporting artists with ties to graffiti, street art and skate culture; a movement that began to culminate within an alternative generation of emerging artists in the mid-late ‘90s. Once established, BLK/MRKT soon became a destination for these like-minded artists within an emerging movement of contemporary Street Art, many of whom have risen to prominence over the past two decades. This website showcases the exhibitions that helped contribute to the shaping of this new movement. In 2003 the gallery relocated to the Culver City arts district in LA and renovated a 4000 sqft building to allow it to expand upon its vision and platform of artists. This site was established as an archive for those of you to enjoy today, and into the foreseeable future. Thank you to all the artists, collectors, and ardent supporters who helped turn our vision into reality.
